These are pictures of the old school in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, called Camp Walton when the school opened.
The school opened on the day after Labor Day in 1912. It was situated on the corner of Shell and Miracle Strip Parkway on land donated by Erwin Buck. That year there were 15 students attending class. The building was moved to its present location next to The Indian Mound in downtown Fort Walton Beach in 1974 and is owned and operated by the City of Fort Walton Beach.
I would like to give special thanks to the Heritage Park and Cultural Center for opening the building to me so I could take these pictures. Their web site is www.fwb.org/museum. They can be reached at 850-833-9595.
